Air Travel Safety For Children

The responsibility to a child becomes greater when you have to travel with them especially by air. This is because there have been many cases where children have been the victims of travel and aviation accidents. This is of primary concern to many parents who need to travel with their children to different destinations. Travel safety for children includes many steps, so plan ahead and don’t let your italy ski holidays be ruined before takeoff. Here are a few of the more important rules for travelling with young children.

Planning. One of the first things that every parent needs to do is plan ahead. Planning requires that you think about potential needs and eventualities. Thus you will need to have all the supplies that cater to the normal and the special needs of the child.

Child restraints. A child that weighs less than 40 pounds should be inside a child restraint system that is ideal for their weight. A child below two should be kept in the lap of a parent. Parents should also try to ensure that the flight authorities have all the child life preservers that are required for small children when they are travelling.

Prepare for emergencies. The parent should prepare for emergencies in case the child has a medical condition and flight attendants and other flight staff should be made aware of the medical condition in event of any emergency that may arise.

Seat Them Away from the isle. Since children are likely to be tempted to explore when they are near the aisle seats, it is best to put them away from those seats. Children are very fidgety and the parent should keep an eye on the child all the time.

The child should be kept under control so that he/she does not get into any trouble or harm himself/herself due to the negligence of the parent or the guardian that is accompanying the child.
