Vaccinations for Uganda

One of the things that seems to be popular these days rather than you bog standard holiday lying around on a beach not getting up to too much are uganda safari holidays. A safari trip sounds appealing to a lot of people, it’s out of the ordinary, it’s got adventure, you don’t know what kinds of things you might discover and there is always the potential opportunity that you will see something that normally you would only see on the discovery channel happen right in front of you. But now for the boring health aspects of going, remember that even with the advice I am giving you in this entry you really must get yourself seen by someone at a travel health clinic of by your own personal GP ideally eight weeks before you plan to depart. You will most likely need to be vaccinated against Hepatitis A and B, Typhoid, Yellow Fever, Polio and Rabies to name a few if you are planning a trip. The other thing to be wary of if you get out there is that you should try and get hold of an antibiotic and an antidiarrheal drug whilst you’re out there in case you get persistent symptoms of traveller’s diarrhoea. In most cases it won’t be serious and can be treated with a decent hydration but if on the off chance it becomes severe, lasts longer that a seventy two hour period, blood begins to appear in the stools or there is severe abdominal pain medical attention must be sought straight away.
