Travel is fun, however for a few people that fun will turn to something a lot less pleasant. A few safety procedures put into place before you leave on a trip can really make a big difference.

Here are my top 5:

1. This may seem a little odd but have a dummy wallet that you actually use. When I travel I will have a money belt for my cash, passport, travelers cheques etc as well as a wallet with cash and credit cards. The only difference is that my credit cards will be old out of date ones and the cash pile will be 6 small notes and a single not of the next denomination up. A cursory glance from a mugger will satisfy them they have got my currency.

2. When money is around stop and look. When you are going to pay for something, use a cash point or enter a bank etc, take a second to just survey the area. Is someone loitering, make a mental note. I did this on entering a bank abroad and on leaving the three guys who had been casually chatting outside were now following me on the far side of the road. On passing a parked truck I ducked into a shop to see them scratching their heads as to where their mark had gone.

3. Get false jewelery. A wedding ring has more than sentimental value so why let some fool with a knife have yours, and sell your gold jewelery on. Cheap and cheerful jewels are more than enough to satisfy a robbers curiosity and will save you from doing anything foolish in defense of your real thing.

4. Light is right. Robbers, thieves and evildoers like the sanctuary of dark places in which to carry out their acts. If you are in a well lit and populated place it is so much harder for people to act in a hidden and protected manner.

5. Use your head. Think about your actions before you do them. Just because you are on holiday there is no reason to disengage your brain. Is the local biker cafe really the best place to grab a bite to eat? Do you really want to try blow fish from the back street vendor? Are the two guys trying to befriend you really looking out for your best interests? Err on the side of caution and you will eliminate the majority of risks.

Travel is fun, but safe travel is way more fun.

Africa -a continent that thousands of people each year want to visit but few are undertaking the trip since many issues arise when travelling to the destinations on the continent. The different obstacles of each country and the dangerous regions in the continent have estopped many from travelling and thus the foreign income from tourism that is vital for each state is decreased and some of the capitals never reach the countries.

Travelling to the tropica areas of Africa is probably the most wanted tourist route when considering the African destinations, but also it is the most dangerous trip to undertake. Before going to such a vacation a person should be familiar with the wilderness of these regions- many of the territories are inhabited by dangerous animals and poisonos plants so a person should take reasonbale steps to protect himself before leaving -this includes proper vaccines and increased awareness of the regions. You should also look into the care fees annuities of insurance companies because they can go up when travelling to countries like Africa.

Different tour operators provide efficint awareness programmes for several hours that introduce to the future visitors the dangers and the complications they might meet on the continent as well as the beauty and the amazing time a person can spend there. So before travelling, a person is strongly advised to take some steps and make himself familiar with all he might witness and experience in the wild nature of the continent.

There are also many other things a person should know before travelling. In some states there are political and social problems, outbreaks of rebelions and ambition for revolutions among many political formations so sometimes the effiency and providing adequate response to medical or transportation need might be reduced. This is the reason why many future travellers are adivised to first think carefully and then pick up the most attractive and convinient destination for their vacation.

Eating out can often be very expensive for families on holiday, particularly in countries where the cost of living is higher. Here are some of my tips on how to limit your food costs when you are away.

Instead of heading out to a different restaurant every night, consider cooking your own food. For example, if you are visiting Italy, what better way to cook your own pizza or lasagne? In fact it is well known that Italians don’t often eat out at restaurants since the art of cooking is so rooted into Italian culture that many Italians cook just life chefs. This is an efficient way to save money on a daily basis just by staying in the comfort of your own villa or apartment and if you don’t want to dish out the cash for accommodation, you can look into camper vans for sale in uk and go on a European road trip! The typical cost of an Italian meal for four with drinks and deserts may amount to 90 Euros, which would convert to about £375 a week. A typical weekly grocery bill for four persons from an Italian supermarket could amount to a converted figure of £100, thereby saving you the equivalent of £275 a week, excluding any petrol costs to and from the supermarket.

Another idea to reduce your food budget is to only buy what you need. This may sound obvious, but my family always buys more food than they need. It could be a box of yoghurts that expire before anyone eats them or an ice cream container that goes unused because there wasn’t enough space for it in the fridge. You may find you save a considerable amount of money by taking extra care to make sure that you only buy foods that aren’t going to be wasted.

If you are a member of the European Union, you must be thinking it is quite easy to travel within the borders of the Union and no specific preparation is needed. You feel like you could just hop on a plane and touch down at a property in Belek without any worries. However, you should bear in mind the different peculiarities of each country to avoid discomfort and always consider your stay in a particular destination before actually arriving there.

If you are travelling from Western to Eastern Europe within the Union, the problems you might probably encounter are not those with documents and visas (since the free travel laws within the union apply) but the problems with the clash of cultures. Eaststern Europe is traditionally considered to be a hot spot for pickpockets, reckless drivers, potentially dangerous because of the religious and ethnic problems that have occured so far. Tourists usually ignore many of these factors but they must understand they enter the countries of the so called “closed societies”. People there are not that open, they have long lived under the shadow of extreme socialism and the understandings of generations are impossible to change. This is the reason why before leaving for those Eastern EU members, a person must understand the risks (even being minor ones nowadays) he is undertaking.

The social services, however, in these countries are well established and accessible for all people on the land. Transport during the recent years has dramitically improved and links between major cities and towns plus tourist destinations are well managed and appropriate for all willing to visit the countries. Helathcare services have also been improved significantly and new governements accept radical reforms in order to increase the rate of servicing and provide effective service. Foreign languages speaking service consultants are on disposal at every request so if any kind of problems occur, all the people will have access of to public services and healthcare.

The recommendations and notes made above are intented to clarify the matter when it comes to travelling in the EU from Western to Eastern Europe, so people travalling in these directions should bear in mind the disadvantages of the East but to be sure that if anything wrong happens, the improved servicing systems will provide effective response to their needs.

Football fans who visited the South African World Cup tournament are being advised to get their HIV status checked by those working UK locum jobs for doctors if they engaged in unprotected sex.

As many as 25,000 England fans have returned from South Africa, a country which is estimated to have as many as six million HIV sufferers. Over 65 percent of heterosexual men and around 25 percent of women who contract the virus do so during unprotected sex while on holiday.

A new campaign called ’Beer Goggle Johnny’s Guide to Sexual Health'has been initiated by Heartlands Hospital in Birmingham and is supported by government organisations. Sexual health and HIV consultant, Dr Steve Taylor, who works for the hospital said that almost 20 percent of young South African adults were infected with HIV. However, he said that across South Africa there were significant local variations and that in some areas the number of young adults with HIV may be one in three.

While there is greater awareness of the dangers of practicing unsafe sex now, Taylor said that many people were still failing to act responsibly when they go out on holiday to countries with high rates of HIV. He urged anyone who was unsure of whether they may have contracted a sexually transmitted infection to attend a sexual health screening immediately after their return to the UK. The Beer Goggle Johnny’s Guide is a campaign which aims to be ’amusing and engaging'and has been backed by the BASHH (British Association for Sexual Health and HIV) as well as the THT (Terrence Higgins Trust).

BASHH’s Peter Greenhouse said that people infected with HIVs risk passing on the virus to others if they do not get a check-up. He said that early testing and treatment would mean better long-term health implications for HIV-infected individuals and would reduce the risk of the disease passing on to other people.

Women today are independent and prefer to travel alone, making the best of their freedom and liberty but they must keep a few things in mind while traveling to a destination, known or unknown.

When planning to travel alone, carry fewer packages and luggage and avoid wearing high heels or uncomfortable clothing (always opt for the running shoes). This will help you to avoid accepting help from others.

Make sure you carry a small handbag where all your important documents, passport and cash can be kept. The bag must be large enough to accommodate your documents and small enough to hang on your shoulders.

Adapt the dress code of the locals. This will prevent you from standing out from rest of the crowd and will make you less noticeable.

It is important for you to learn the language of the locals- the basic greetings, some local food names, etc. This will bridge the communication gap to a considerable extent.

Be careful when visiting some religious places. You must learn the culture and customs of the region. In this way, you can avoid offending the locals.

Do not carry jewellery while traveling. If you do so, you will be asking for unexpected trouble with thieves and robbers looking to rob you.

Most importantly, avoid eye contact with strangers or suspicious travelers. If you stare at a guy for too long, he may take it as an open invitation to flirt.

Whether married or not, buy yourself a wedding ring. A lie that can save you from problems is not a sin in the least. In many of the countries, married women are respected, which keeps them away from trouble.

When travelling alone, make sure you avoid borrowing stuff from strangers. For this, you must carry your own travel stuff while leaving home.

Refrain from accepting food or drinks offered by strangers.

The responsibility to a child becomes greater when you have to travel with them especially by air. This is because there have been many cases where children have been the victims of travel and aviation accidents. This is of primary concern to many parents who need to travel with their children to different destinations. Travel safety for children includes many steps, so plan ahead and don’t let your italy ski holidays be ruined before takeoff. Here are a few of the more important rules for travelling with young children.

Planning. One of the first things that every parent needs to do is plan ahead. Planning requires that you think about potential needs and eventualities. Thus you will need to have all the supplies that cater to the normal and the special needs of the child.

Child restraints. A child that weighs less than 40 pounds should be inside a child restraint system that is ideal for their weight. A child below two should be kept in the lap of a parent. Parents should also try to ensure that the flight authorities have all the child life preservers that are required for small children when they are travelling.

Prepare for emergencies. The parent should prepare for emergencies in case the child has a medical condition and flight attendants and other flight staff should be made aware of the medical condition in event of any emergency that may arise.

Seat Them Away from the isle. Since children are likely to be tempted to explore when they are near the aisle seats, it is best to put them away from those seats. Children are very fidgety and the parent should keep an eye on the child all the time.

The child should be kept under control so that he/she does not get into any trouble or harm himself/herself due to the negligence of the parent or the guardian that is accompanying the child.

When you are planning a trip abroad you should take precautions to keep yourself from becoming a target. Though it is unlikely that you will be targeted it is better to travel safely than to take a chance no matter where you are going. From backpacking Europe to val thorens accommodation; Here is a list of precautions to take when traveling:

1. When traveling be sure to take very little cash. Use traveler’s checks and credit cards instead.

2. Make sure that you bring extra passport photo pictures and a complete copy of your passport in case you lost it and need to get it replaced quickly.

3. Be sure to bring an international phone card with you and keep it in a separate location in case your luggage or purse is stolen.

4. Avoid wearing any excess jewelry that could give on lookers the impression that you have something worth stealing.

5. Be sure to carry any medications close to you in a carry on in their original labeled containers.

6. Try not to be to open with your itinerary but do keep one handy in case of emergency. Also, leave a copy of your itinerary with someone you trust back home so that if there is an issue you can contact them for a copy.

7. If you have a cell phone or laptop computer, be sure that you keep a close eye on them at all times.

8. If you have medical insurance or travelers insurance keep all documents close at hand. Also, keep copies of all of these documents with someone that you trust at home in case you need to retrieve them quickly.

9. Take full advantage of any safe deposit boxes available to you in the hotel where you are staying. Do not leave important items in your room unattended.

10. Be sure that everyone knows what your plans are for return and where you will be staying for your trip.

There are many people who travel across the world whether for vacation, work or business. It is not common however for many travelers to have travelers insurance, you could be staying at the Ritz in London or hostel berlin, you still need it. Because there are many things that can happen unexpectedly having this form of insurance has become very necessary. Here are five reasons to get travel insurance.

1. No coverage from you domestic insurance. Most if not all domestic based insurance covers you once you are in the country of issuance. When you travel you do not have any coverage. Travel insurance offers you protect against certain happening such as baggage loss.

2. Medical treatment can be costly overseas. In some countries medical care is very costly and without insurance you may not be able to pay the bills or receive proper medical care. Most travel insurance companies are able to provide the necessary service worldwide because they either have or can access the resources to deal with most situations.

3. Travel investment is protected. Often when you decide to travel it happens that your trip gets cancelled or interrupted because you become sick, injured, or some natural disaster. A travel policy will help you recover part of the cost of the trip.

4. Terrorism. It’s not only in the United States, it’s everywhere. And don’t think that it could never happen to you, because it could. And there’s a strong chance that at least once in your life you’ve walked by, or sat next to a terrorist, and didn’t even know it. Plan your trip as if there’s a 50-50 chance it will happen, and get the travel insurance. The last thing you want is to be stuck without it in a situation like this.

5. Better too much, than too little. You can never have enough insurance. Just ask homeowners. They have all the insurance in the world, except insurance that covers flooding or natural disasters. They think they don’t need it, and then when the worst happens, they are slapping themselves in the face. It can, and might happen. Plan for the worst, but don’t let it ruin your vacation or business trip. Emphasis on better safe than sorry!

When I used think about traveling to a foreign land, I got very paranoid. After all, you are in an alien land with nothing to provide you with the comfort of your own home and even your own country. The rules, regulations and legislations are totally different and the thought itself used to scare the life out of me. This was before I decided to educate myself on the various contingencies I can face while traveling to a foreign country and the way they can be tackled. Now that I know I’m not dumb enough to fall prey to any such situation, I’m less hyper when I need to travel.

Traveling is all about fun and if it is holiday time then surely you want to go abroad and explore hidden getaways in exotic lands. Doubts and worries shouldn’t overshadow your mood so it is better to be prepared for the worst even if it’s not going to happen. Getting a traveler’s insurance is the first and most basic step. It covers unexpected acts of terrorism, problems during pregnancy, urgent medical care facilities and any unplanned trips back home. You can fill out forms as and when you apply for your visa.

You should always pack your bags sensibly and even if you have to leave out that sexy little dress, packing a few medicines which you know you might need is mandatory. The foreign country you’re visiting might be out of this world, but it might not have all that you’re used to in your home country. So, make sure that you get your basics right before you go skiing off to Chalet val thorens.

Certain countries have strict rules for foreigners which you don’t want to violate. So ensure that your travel documents, tickets, passports etc are in order and have been duly obtained from reliable sources. Scams pulled on travelers are far more than you might realize. Foreign currency must be purchased from legal sources. The safety concerns don’t end here. Once you reach your destination, keep your documents and cash safely. You don’t want to end up living in there forever!

By now you must be cursing me, I know, but it all pays in the end! The whole point is to put on your enjoyment shoes and dance away during holidays. Planning a little beforehand makes sure that your trip is just what you expected and all tension is kept at bay.
